What is Dental Fiber Post Treatment?
Fiber post is a support structure used to create a solid foundation for crown restoration in teeth that have undergone root canal treatment and have significant loss of structure. Made from glass or carbon fiber reinforced resin composite.
Fiber posts offer many advantages over traditional metal cast posts: they reduce root fracture risk due to their dentin-like elasticity modulus, do not cause gray reflection in aesthetic restorations since they are metal-free, and can be easily removed when needed.
Treatment Stages
Evaluation
Remaining tooth tissue and root structure are evaluated with X-ray. Post necessity is determined.
Canal Preparation
Upper part of canal filling is removed to appropriate depth for post space.
Post Selection
Fiber post suitable for canal width is selected. Post space is shaped.
Cementation
Fiber post is cemented into canal with dual-cure resin cement.
Core Build-up
Core structure for crown is created over post with composite or glass ionomer.
